Strategic Partnerships in Indian Defence Industry: The Quest for a Single Engine Aircraft

Quoting from an Indian Ministry of Defence report of the Committee of Experts, “The overarching responsibility of the political executive and consequently the decisive voice in the field of foreign and Defence Policy is axiomatic in democratic politics. The Indian Armed Forces understand and respect this position. So in spite of their concerns in some areas which they perceive as vulnerable, including a policy that scholars have termed as ‘strategic restraint’, in the wider national interest, they adjust their war fighting doctrines to such limitations.

2017 A Year In Conflict

Another year in ‘The Century of Peace’ draws to a close. Another year distressingly akin to the preceding one, and the ones before it. It has been marked by conflict, with older ones showing no signs of closure and newer tension spots arising. And leaders spewing bombast add to the tensions of an already volatile world

Predicting anything about J&K and trying to justify the predictions can be risky exercise. However, when an important aspect of national security is at stake one can afford to stick out one’s neck essentially for the sake of timely decisions. J&K’s situation has been dynamic to the extent of being highly unpredictable. When multiple players are involved, trans-border issues dominate and narratives change frequently; it is then that people who have the experience and the domain knowledge must step in and advise more uninhibitedly.

Consolidating Indo Israel ties

The recent visit of PM Netanyahu of Israel, to India, has given  a  fillip to  further consolidation of the already cordial relations between the two nations. On the very first day of PM Netanyahu’s visit, to India, the Teen Murti Chowk was renamed Teen Murti Haifa Chowk – a befitting tribute to the great valour of the Indian soldiers who fought on Israeli soil a century ago.
