The rotary wing fleet of the Indian Armed Forces  continues to play a very significant role both in war and peace. Induction of the Chinook and the Apache helicopters into the IAF will give a massive boost to the capability. IAF's vintage Mi-25/35 are being replaced by Apache attack helicopters and the Chinook will replace the Mil Mi-26 

India Air Force (IAF) received the first of the 22 Apache AH-64 E(I) attack helicopters in a formal handover ceremony on 10 May 2019, at Boeing’s production facility in Mesa, Arizona, USA. The first batch of the helicopters is scheduled to be shipped to India by July this year. Selected aircrew & ground crew have undergone training at the training facilities at US Army base Fort Rucker, Alabama. The Apache will be a significant boost to IAF's combat capability.
